FAQs

Does my child need to be a member to take tennis lessons?

No - all tennis lessons at STSC can be taken by members or non-members. However, there is a different price - approximately £1.50 more per session for non-members. So you can decide whether to pay a a bit more and have lessons as a non-member, or to join your child as a member and pay less for lessons.

In the case of younger children, it is more expensive to take lessons as a non-member than it is to join the club - so often it makes sense to join.

What are the other benefits of joining the club?

This depends on the age of your child. With all memberships, full use of the tennis courts and clubhouse is included, so your child can play as much tennis as they like!

  • Children aged 10+ can come along for FREE to our Junior Club Morning on Saturdays 11.30am-1pm (term-time only).
  • For children under 10, parents can play with children as part of the child's membership.
What equipment does my child need?

Children must wear trainers, preferably non-marking but understand this isn't always possible. Studded shoes, astroturf shoes and/or school shoes are absolutely not allowed as they can mark and damage the tennis courts.

We can provide your child with a tennis racket if needed, or they are welcome to bring their own.

Have a look at our equipment page for much more information

What do you do if it's raining?

We will go ahead in most conditions, if the rain is torrential, thunder and lightening or snow and ice we'll cancel.  Make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

If we need to cancel a session we will send you a text message letting you know. You'll then be entitled to one of the following options:

- Catch up at another session in the week
- Receive a tennis camp voucher
- Roll over to the following term
- Receive a refund for that session
